Kakalo and Lasso strip the ego bare on “Y a ti, ¿Qué tal te va?”

Miami, FL — April, 2026 — Latin GRAMMY®-nominated singer-songwriter and producer Kakalo joins forces with Latin GRAMMY®-winning singer-songwriter Lasso on “Y a ti, ¿qué tal te va?”, a gut-punch ballad about the facades behind which a wounded ego hides. The track and its official music video are available on all streaming platforms and on Kakalo’s YouTube channel.
Co-written by Kakalo and Lasso and produced by Kakalo himself, the song opens with two verses dripping in irony and pretension: a string of declarations painting a picture-perfect life where success is the baseline — a magazine-worthy girlfriend, a house with a pool, a flush bank account, and first-class travel. Yet the lyrics pull the rug out from under this facade, verse by verse, leaving the protagonist completely exposed, raw vulnerability on full display.
“Y a ti, ¿qué tal te va?” not only brings Mexico and Venezuela together vocally, but also connects them through an instrument that takes center stage from the very first notes: the Venezuelan cuatro. A waltz rhythm steeped in nostalgia carries the song on a multicultural journey.
Kakalo’s production evolves in lockstep with the lyrics: what begins as a spare, acoustic cuatro arrangement gradually builds into a waltzing ranchera, layering in strings centered around the guitarrón, vihuela, and violins, with trumpets providing the emotional counterweight.
The single arrives just over a month after “Tu Ladito De La Cama” with Mexican singer-songwriter Leonel García, and joins a growing roster of releases including “Bien, ¿y tú?”, “Sobre La Marcha” with Andrés Obregón, and “Tu Canita Al Aire” — all slated for Kakalo’s sophomore studio album, his first composed entirely of original songs.

A native of Hermosillo, Sonora, Kakalo has established himself as one of the most compelling emerging voices in Mexican romantic music — a position that was confirmed with his first Latin GRAMMY® nomination in 2025 for Best Mexican Regional Song for “Tierra Trágame.” That single also took him to the Viña del MarInternational Song Festival, where he emerged as the winner of the International Competition, taking home the Gaviota de Plata.
His songwriting credits include cuts by artists such as Carín León, Pepe Aguilar, and Iván Cornejo. Since 2022, he has been part of Socios Music, the record label founded by Carín León, who also mentors him.
