Este impactante film relata la misión real que Ballard y su equipo emprendieron en Ucrania en 2022, apenas dos meses después de iniciada la guerra, cuando miles de niños huérfanos quedaron a merced de las redes de trata. Sin recursos ni apoyo institucional, Ballard decidió viajar con su equipo al epicentro del conflicto para rescatar a menores atrapados entre la violencia y el crimen organizado.
 

Durante la operación, una pista de la ONG Free a Girl los condujo a un reconocido pedófilo holandés, Nelson Maatman, quien había escapado de su país y planeaba traficar niños ucranianos hacia México. Lo que parecía una misión humanitaria se transformó en una peligrosa persecución internacional, que reveló una red criminal extendida hasta Ecuador, donde se descubrió un “hotel sexual” para pedófilos en el pueblo costero de Canoa.
 

Se calcula que más de 40 millones de personas en el mundo viven hoy bajo alguna forma de esclavitud moderna, y casi un 30% de las víctimas de trata son niños que habitan en zonas de conflicto. HIDDEN WAR pone rostro y nombre a esta tragedia global, al narrar la misión REAL de Tim Ballard y su equipo, quienes se adentraron en plena guerra de Ucrania para salvar a menores del horror de la explotación.
