NUEVA YORK — Lo que parecía imposible ahora es realidad: el Rey de la Bachata, Romeo Santos, y el Príncipe del género, Prince Royce, unen sus monarquías para lanzar “Better Late Than Never”, el primer álbum conjunto de las superestrellas, marcando un momento trascendental en la historia de la música tropical contemporánea. La producción está disponible en todas las plataformas digitales a través de Sony Music Latin.
Santos y Royce sorprendieron a los fans de la bachata al mantener en absoluto secreto el proyecto, sin sencillos previos. El álbum está conformado por trece temas inéditos, compuestos por Romeo Santos, y cuenta además con la pluma de Prince Royce en cuatro de ellos.
Santos encabezó absolutamente toda la producción del LP, jugando con los arreglos tradicionales del género y modernizándolo mediante la fusión de otros ritmos como el R&B y los beats urbanos.
“Dardos” es un tema en el que Santos y Royce exploran el R&B mediante un arreglo musical contemporáneo que fusiona afrobeat, ritmos tropicales, violines y diversas guitarras. La lírica moderna explora la jerga dominicana y utiliza la astrología como recurso narrativo para definir los rasgos de personalidad de los protagonistas de una relación tóxica, así como el despecho, las heridas y las faltas que deja en la persona amada.
En “Jezabel”, Santos y Royce nos envuelven en una historia de pasión e incorporan elementos de R&B y beats de reggaetón, lo que refuerza la narrativa del tema. Por su parte, en “Ay, San Miguel!” los artistas rinden tributo al Caribe y sus ritmos, haciendo un guiño a la bomba puertorriqueña.
El álbum cierra con “La Última Bachata”, que incorpora destellos del bolero de antaño y una estética sonora vintage, rindiendo un tributo luctuoso a algunas de las voces más emblemáticas de la música global: Selena Quintanilla, Michael Jackson, Jenni Rivera, Prince y los íconos dominicanos Yoskar Sarante y Ruby Pérez.
Líricamente, la producción transita entre el español y el inglés, incorporando este último en historias que nos trasladan a Nueva York, cuna de los intérpretes y epicentro de la dominicanidad en Estados Unidos.
Los temas incorporan referencias líricas contemporáneas y jerga actual, pero sin dejar la inconfundible carga poética propia de Santos, guiado por el poder narrativo de cada verso, que cuenta historias de amor, desamor, deseo y profunda vulnerabilidad.
La producción incluye tan solo una colaboración: “Menor”, junto al artista emergente dominicano Dalvin La Melodía, lo que conecta a tres generaciones de amantes de la bachata.
Para celebrar este histórico momento cultural, Santos y Royce organizaron el miércoles 26 de noviembre un listening party exclusivo en uno de los recintos más emblemáticos de Nueva York, el Madison Square Garden Arena, que reunió a líderes de la industria, creadores, fans de los artistas y medios de comunicación.

NEW YORK — What once seemed impossible is now a reality: the King of Bachata, Romeo Santos, and the Prince of the genre, Prince Royce, join forces to release “Better Late Than Never”, the superstars’ first joint album, marking a transcendental moment in the history of contemporary tropical music. The LP is available on all digital platforms through Sony Music Latin.
Santos and Royce surprised bachata fans by keeping the project in absolute secrecy, with no prior singles. The album features thirteen unreleased tracks composed by RomeoSantos and also includes PrinceRoyce’s pen on four of them.
Santos spearheaded the entire production, blending the genre’s traditional arrangements with modern sounds, fusing R&B and urban beats.
“Dardos” is the album’s lead single, a track in which Santos and Royceexplore R&B through a contemporary arrangement blending Afrobeat, tropical rhythms, violins, and diverse guitars. The modern lyrics explore Dominican slang and use astrology as a narrative device to define the protagonists’ personality traits in a toxic relationship, capturing the heartbreak left by the wounds and failings of a loved one.
On “Jezabel,” Santos and Royce immerse the audience in a story of passion while incorporating R&B and reggaeton beats, reinforcing the track’s narrative. Meanwhile, on “Ay, San Miguel!” the artists pay tribute to the Caribbean and its rhythms, nodding to Puerto Rican bomba.
The album closes with “La Última Bachata,” which incorporates glimpses of bolero from yesteryear and a vintage sonic aesthetic, paying tribute to some of the most iconic voices in global music: Selena Quintanilla, Michael Jackson, Jenni Rivera, Prince, and Dominican icons Yoskar Sarante and Ruby Pérez.
Lyrically, the production moves between Spanish and English, incorporating the latter in stories that transport listeners to New York, the artists’ birthplace and the epicenter of Dominican identity in the United States.
The tracks incorporate contemporary references and current slang, yet never abandon the unmistakable poetic weight that is Santos’ signature, guided by the narrative power behind each verse, telling stories of love, heartbreak, desire, and profound vulnerability.
The production includes only one collaboration, “Menor,” featuring Dominican rising star Dalvin La Melodía, thus connecting three generations of bachata lovers.
To celebrate this historic cultural moment, Santos and Royce hosted an exclusive listening party on Wednesday, November 26, at one of New York’s most iconic venues, Madison Square Garden Arena, which brought together industry leaders, creators, fans, and media.
