Latino Stars Shine Bright At 2025 Mlb All-star Week In Atlanta

From Historic Homers to High-Speed Swings, Latino Talent Takes Center Stage

The 2025 MLB All-Star festivities at Truist Park were a celebration of baseball’s global reach—and Latino players took the spotlight with standout performances across both the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game.

From Ketel Marte’s (Dominican Republic) two-run double to open scoring for the National League, to Ronald Acuña Jr.’s (Venezuela) leadoff spark, Latino talent drove the action from the first inning. Maikel García (Venezuela) helped lead the American League’s late-game rally with a walk, stolen base, and run scored in the 7th.

In the dramatic conclusion of Tuesday’s Midsummer Classic, Jonathan Aranda (Mexico) and Randy Arozarena (Cuba/Mexico) were selected for the league’s first-ever “swing-off” tiebreaker, each hitting clutch home runs to keep the AL in the game. The NL ultimately edged out the AL, 7–6.

Home Run Derby Highlights – July 14

  • Junior Caminero (Dominican Republic), just 22 years old, led all hitters in the opening round with 21 home runs, averaging 427 feet with a max distance of 469 ft. He recorded the second-fastest average bat speed in the event (78 mph) and advanced to the final round, finishing runner-up with 44 total home runs across three rounds.
  • Oneil Cruz (Dominican Republic) also launched 21 home runs in Round 1, including a 513-foot blast—one of the longest ever hit outside of Coors Field.

All-Star Game Highlights – July 15

  • Randy Arozarena and Jonathan Aranda represented the American League in the first-ever All-Star Game swing-off, each connecting for home runs during the tiebreaker.
  • Maikel García sparked the AL’s comeback earlier in the game, reaching base with a walk, stealing second, and scoring on an RBI groundout in the 7th.

From record-breaking swings to game-changing at-bats, Latino players made their mark on the league’s biggest stage.
